Interesting week...
As of Sunday, 7pm, I'm finally feeling relieved... WHY? cuz the concert's finally over. Weeks of shaky rehearsals... but Westwinds was still able to live up to her name... which is good and I'm thankful for that. Still... I'm really glad that's over. I don't like such pre-concert anxiety... haven't had ONE in edges!
Received 4 students' results this week... which totals up to 6... (no more for this year)
First was this little P2 girl who skipped gr 2 and went on to gr 3. Last year she took gr1 and got 140. This year - gr 3 and got 130... Still maintaining... 2 distinctions.
2nd this boy who started learning with me since last year, August maybe? - can't remember. This was 1st time he took exam - gr 2... 114 (this one parents thought he might fail... I also thought may fail - cuz on a bad day-which happens very often, he hardly scrapes through a pass)
Next - girl who took gr 1 maybe last year? Mother requested her to take gr 3 this year... started lessons only in October, but was really quite slow in picking up the songs... so till the end still a bit shaky - managed to pass... she got 106. (phew! this was close!) Only today i realise her pieces quite good... supporting tests weak - no not oversight on my part. Just that she was soooo shaky with her pieces and always breaking down during lessons, i was wondering whether she could make it. Naturally, supporting tests were not good at all... No time to cover mah.
Next - P4 boy who took gr3 last year... or the year before? - anyways, he took gr 5 this year. Promising pupil but very often quite blur where instructions are concerned. Got 128 for his exam.
No.5 - pupil i took over from last year (1 month before his gr 2 exam which he scored 130 for... i think) he got 120 this year. Which IS a pleasant surprise because up until 2 weeks before exam, his 2nd piece still very shaky. Scales also were hardly memorised... this one i really have no idea how he did it... maybe my threat worked! haha
Last but not the least - my ex-band major...when i was t-i-c lah. took gr 5 2 years ago and got 126. Just took gr 8 this year... and managed a 134.
So let's see... total medal tally:
gr 1 - 1 distinction
gr 2 - 1 distinction, 2 passes
gr 3 - 1 distinction, 1 pass
gr 4 - 1 merit
gr 5 - 2 merits
gr 8 - 1 distinction...
:) Looks like an impressive track record to me... hee hee
