Random Thoughts... yet again...
Wanted to do this last night... but was too tired from getting Mozart right so here it is now.
Was informed of a performance about 2 weeks ago... LAST MIN - i consider this. Why? because most of my Band performances are planned in advance of at least a month. More than that if I can help it. So, was forwarded a mail from P about this performance she gladly volunteered her Band for... without consultation of date, repertoire or any other thing of that sort. Of course, being the person who planned and planned and planned, I replied informing her that unless we get the timing that suits our schedule, we would not be able to do so. Several mails then bounced around regards to the performance. Everything was confirmed - more or less - or so everyone thought. Received an email from P on Monday - just when we were booking the transport for the perf - about the cancellation of the band perf.
HIT THE ROOF!
Do organisers not know that we ARE NOT beck and call? Bloody hell...
the thoughts:
- The people may think the Band is VERY free (-ve)
- The P may think that the Band is up to it (+ve)
- Just for the sake of raising school status (bleah)
- Good exposure for the kids (unfortunate it got cancelled?)
- I feel more irritation than disappointment (especially after trying to put the damn thing into our schedule
- I get to go makan with my WW kakis after the Sectionals (YEAH!!!)
- hopefully the Band kids will learn something from here (performances CAN get cancelled / you can practice HARD and yet get rejected)
Time to start figuring out the pple I should leave out of this Sun's perf. Or this one just give them a chance - after all how often they get to work with and external group like this? (there again, why the hell some have to pruposely sign up for yet another event if they bother about the perf?) Some pupils really so don't deserve any respect... they have no dignity nor integrity.
No doubt a significant number of adults we see in society now do not behave very much better than the kids here... but still, is the society not supposed to react in situations like this? The standard of living is rising... the quality is rising too... but are pple who are we able to live up to this? Some pple just have to be taught... a HUGE LESSON they would never forget... Will this happen? Are there enough lessons that can be taught to everyone?
