Bravery... or just running away from reality?
Met up with an ex-classmate from the music faculty back in the Uni days yesterday. It was a nice long chat... I'm one of the 2 from my batch who has gotten out. The last news i know - the other 5 of our class of 7 - is still "tahan-ing" the system. Anyways, there was plenty to catch up... One thing that always spring up from a conversation with pple who are still in the system, or from friends whom i occassionally meet, is that they always like to emphasize how "brave" i am to have left... erm... i'm not quite sure whether thats an accurate to describe my decision to leave. Maybe i was just running away from things i don't wanna see/do anymore? haha... Surely, Bravery is too nice a word to be used on me...
Lessons for Mon night was cancelled so ended up @ IMM, Ichiban for dinner... since i was the one with the Japanese craving... p.s. MOF's green tea shake is actually quite nice... not too sweet, not too dilute, not too bitter... just right. :)
Got an enquiry about how i give piano lessons. I have my suspicions about this person... ask so many questions! - how do u motivate pupils? how do u structure ur lessons? Do you teach music by different composers? (-sorry, but... d'uh!?!?) Teaching style? If i provide other resources? Ok, seriously sooo many open ended type of qsn... u want me to type out word for word the different scenarios and the steps i'm gonna take? then i'm better off writing a book and selling it on the market... d'uh. I do think some of this things are personal, and unless u sit through a lesson with me, it's really hard for me to tell you wat i look out for, what i teach and how i teach! I don't think my materials are any secret. My high passing and distinction rate has got nothing to do with what materials i use - i believe, cuz it's all there in the market! It's the delivery and i can't tell you delivery, can i? (suspecting the person who sent the e-mail is another teacher who's enquiring stuff... or really a parent who has absolutely no idea what teaching is about.) Anyway, by this 2nd enquiry with all the WEIRDER questions i was pretty quick and short in my response. I don't even remember if i did sign-off... haha... I feel kinda bad, but hey, i do think u r asking a bit too many things.
