A new meaning to the word "retrench"

The first and the last time I heard this word - was when my dad got retrenched from one of his previous companies which he had worked in for a long time... (it sounded like one of those words that were used on the slightly "older" population... but...

Just heard it again from one of our fellow contemporaries who was working in a Chemical Industry... oh well... Apparently, he saw it coming, and was all ready to go... (he wasn't exactly happy staying there anyway...) I'm not dumb lah - obviously it can happen to anybody - just came as a shock when we (some friends and i) heard it, that's all...

On other things - i got meself tix for Murray Perahia and LA Phil w Sarah Chang! woohoo~! Problem is - why must they be back to back? - very tiring to go for concerts 2 nights in a row leh... but i believe it'll all be worth it... (will need to remind myself to collect the tix...)

Just heard that another ex-colleague left the service - seems to be the trend these days...
Met up with 2 - one a retiree and another a freelancer yest afternoon for lunch... food's so-so... chicken was a tad dry - tiramisu was quite good, but also a tad dry... wat's with this place and it's dryness? - unlikely to step in again - considering it's all the way in great world (unless of course i'm driven there... but considering my eating habit - prob end up eating Japanese anyways... heh)

I'm hanging there... hanging-on... but may not last long...
