The opinionated... The wise... and the uglies...

Ever had the feeling that the younger generation is getting too smart for their own good?

Everything about the current generation in Pri and Sec school is 'I know what I want, and I want it now... I'm the only ONE with Brains around, I'm the King of the jungle - home, school, classroom etc...' (1st 10 words from Mr Vain - song from at least 10 yrs ago... but so real now)

Whatever happened to HARD WORK? Whatever happened to 'there's NO easy way to success'?

'I want this... I want that... but give it to me fast and now... I want results... However, I don't want to work... DON'T give me any work, DON'T ask me to practice... I'm NOT going to do anything about it... BUT I WANT!'

So typical of children nowadays... and it's not just a handful, it's a jungle full of such kids... the downside of affluence? the downside of technology, the internet, the everything? It's so much a part of life now that we cannot even blame the kids for being like that - considering that the older generation is also starting to behave this way as well...

InFoRmAtIoN OvErLoAd... system error...system error...

I've a feeling that the world might end up all chaotic because of 'multiple system errors'... of ALL sorts...

Very simply -
You want very good food - you've gotta wait
- ever wondered why Mc Donald's and KFC are making BIG bucks? They're fast-food... (No offence to the fast-food joints...)
You want to do well in Maths - patience and practice
- u don practice u don get results
- if you don even know that '1 + 1 = 2', how to figure out what '4.99 + 5.99 + .... = ???' is?
You want to write well - practice
- u don't use the lang, how to improve?
You want to play music well - concentration, practice practice!!
- if u can't even tell the difference between a crotchet and a quaver (aurally or physically) how on EARTH are you supposed to play anything?

Hardwork!

And what happens when these children encounter any difficulty along the way - 'very difficult lah, cannot understand lah, I give up...' and they drop whatever they were doing - if they've even started in the 1st place.

No perseverance, no patience... the qualities that are evident in the younger generation... are we breeding these sub-consciously? Are we doing these? What can we do about it?

On a lighter note, I'm pretty sure there're a few... a small handful of younger generation who know they need to work, to get what they want - Will they be extinct in a few years' time? Already, they're THE endangered species...
